Racine – J. Carol (nee, Steiner) Douglass, 78, passed away at Aurora St. Luke's South Shore on Sunday, November 10, 2013. Carol was born in Racine on December 28, 1934 to Ray and Ella (nee, Mohr) Steiner. She grew up in Racine and graduated from Park High School in 1952. She retired from Johnson Bank in 2001, a job she truly loved. Carol's main passion was her family. Carol is survived by her children, Larry Douglass, Scott (Dena) Douglass, John Douglass, Susan (Mark) Brodesser and Jane (Patrick) Dowling; and loving grandchildren; and her sisters, Sally Granger and Kathryn (Neil) Anderson. Carol is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Richard Granger and a nephew, Jeffery Granger. A memorial service for Carol will be held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1015 Four Mile Road, on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Michael Mueller officiating. A private entombment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Saturday morning from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jane Cremer Foundation, Leadership Racine Scholarship Fund, Family Service of Racine, the Women's Resource Center or St. Andrew Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke's Intensive care unit for the compassionate and wonderful care they gave our mom. We would also like to thank Dr. William Kraklow for his guidance and care he gave her over the past five years.
