RACINE- Irma Martinez Montelongo, 80, passed away at Ascension All Saints Hospital on June 30, 2018.Irma was born in Crystal City, TX on February 9, 1938, daughter of the late Francisco and Esther (nee: Bocanegra) Martinez. She married Angel Montelongo in Racine on December 29, 1956. Irma worked at Acme Die casting until 1968 and spent the rest of her life caring for her family. She was a very caring and friendly person. Irma was always willing to help anyone. She had a smile for everyone she came across. Irma enjoyed dancing with her husband, Angel any chance she could get. She also took pride in her plants and garden in her yard.Irma is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, Angel Montelongo; daughter, Juanita Rodriguez; son Angel Montelongo, Jr.; grandchildren, Arturo Rodriguez, Esmeralda Rodriguez, Andres Rodriguez, Alberto (Erica Suarez) Rodriguez and Augustine (Athena Martin) Rodriguez; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Manuel (Anita) Martinez, Raymond (Alicia) Martinez and Francisco Martinez, Jr.; sisters, Sara Santos, Juanita (Juan) Jaramillo, Olga Rico and Margaret (Tomas) Alfaro; sister in law Margaret Martinez. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Irma was preceded in death by her brother Robert Martinez; sister in law Maria Martinez and her cousin/best friend Timo Bocanegra. Funeral services for Irma will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Parish, 1100 Erie Street on Wednesday, July 11 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Anthony Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
