Ida Mollie KaplanCALEDONIA - Ida Mollie Kaplan, 98, passed away at Racine Commons on Tuesday, August 25, 2015.Ida was born on November 14, 1916 in Tangier, OK to Phillip and Maria (Nee: Trieber) Schafer. She married Arnold W. Kaplan in Racine on June 26, 1946. He preceded her in death. Ida worked in the kitchen at the Sienna Center. She enjoyed doing crafts, quilting and cross stitching. Ida was a member of the Westfield Mother's Club. She liked spending time being outside and working in her garden. Ida is survived by her sons, Clarence (Karen) Kaplan and Calvin Kaplan; grandchildren, Kim (Brian) Lash, Michael Kaplan and Christopher (Meaghan) Kaplan; great grandchildren, Jacob, Abby and Caleb Lash and Devin and Declan Kaplan and siblings, Clara Repp and Gottlieb Schafer. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth Carl Kaplan and siblings, Martha Ruppel, Fred Schaefer, Frieda Hahneman, Rosa Peil, Benjamin Schafer and Abe Schafer.Funeral services for Ida will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Cary J. Winn. Interment will take place in Bohemian National Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Church have been suggested.The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff's at Racine Commons and Season's Hospice for all of their compassionate care.
