Racine – Hertha Platzer, 74, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Friday, October 4, 2013.Hertha was born in Germany on January 18, 1939 to Reinhold and Olga (nee, Schmidt) Reimann. On May 30, 1959 she married Gabriel Platzer at St. John Lutheran Church. Hertha attended St. John Lutheran School and graduated from Racine Lutheran High School. She was employed by Porters of Racine prior to the birth of Mark after which she devoted herself to being a fulltime mother. She always enjoyed shopping and cooking.Survivors include her husband, Gabriel Platzer; son, Mark (Angel) Platzer; brother, Erhard (Marge) Reimann; sister, Amanda (Heinz) Koenig; and her nieces and nephews, Andy Reimann, Chris (Jen) Reimann, Dina (Mark) Tabbert and Debbie Reimann. Hertha is also survived by other relatives and friends, in both the United States and Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Arthur Reimann.Funeral services for Hertha will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, corner of Erie and Kewaunee Streets, on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
