Racine- Herman was 86 years when he passed away at home on February 23, 2018. He was the son of Hovsep and Goulie (Shahinian) Buchaklian born on July 8, 1931. Herman was married to Barbara L. Eickhorst at St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic church on November 16, 1963. They celebrated 50 years together before she passed away on February 21, 2014. In his younger days, Herman served on the altar at St. Hagop, he was on the Board of Trustees as treasurer and a member of the building committee and Marzbed Corp. Herman served in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He returned home and began his 20 plus years at Easterday Paint and retired from the Racine Water Department after 18 years. Herman is survived by his sisters, Lucy Buchaklian and Helen (Buchaklian) Nelson, cousins, Rose, John (Maree), Sarkis, Anna, and Mary, who were like his brothers and sisters growing up together. His pride and joy were his God children, Peter and John Buchaklian, and Catherine "Kitty" Litton and their children Coral, Sarkis, Kevork, Aram, Arev, Siroun, Haig and Nicholas Nishan. He was also the godfather to the Georgian family, Alex, Angel and Phillip. Herman is also survived by many of his other Buchaklian cousins and their families and Barbara's family Jim and Michael Corona, and Sue Lynch.In addition to his wife and parents passing, he was preceded in death by his brother in law Allen "Bud" Nelson and his God daughter Ani Lucien Buchaklian and her mother Sonia Buchaklian, his aunt and uncle Parsegh and Khatoun Buchaklian, and sister in law and brother in law Carol and Mike Corona.Funeral services for Herman will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church, 4100 N. Neuman Road with Rev. Daron Stepanian officiating. Viewing will be at the Church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with services to immediately follow. Final resting place will be Graceland Cemetery. Memorials to St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church have been suggested.His sisters would like to thank his wonderful doctors and nurses, Dr. Goodrich and at St. Luke's Milwaukee Dr. Indrajit Cnoudhuti and nurse Marty and Dr. Suhail Allaqaband and nurse Sara and above all our neighbor, friend and nurse Heather Lhati, who each week came over to take care of his medications and well being and finally to the Aurora hospice nurses.
