Hazel E. Gordon Racine - Hazel E. (nee, Hein) Gordon, 95, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare on Saturday, January 5, 2008. Hazel was born in Dane County, WI on October 31, 1912 to Albert C. and Ida (nee, Splittgerber) Hein. She lived in Rockford, IL, moving to Racine in 1994. Hazel received her Bachelor of Education from Whitewater State Teachers College and her Masters Degree from Rockford College. Hazel married John Beldon Gordon in 1938 and he preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughters, Betty (Christopher) Long of Lombard, IL and Doreen Gordon of Sycamore, IL; grandchildren, Cheryl Nielsen of Dwight, IL, Michael Nielsen of Rochester Hills, MI, Maia (Mohamed Habibeddine) Gordon of Chicago, IL and Andrew Sommer both of Chicago, IL; and great-grandsons, Jonathon Nielsen of Rochester Hills, MI, and Max B. Gordon and Massine Habibeddine of Chicago, IL. Hazel is also survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Peter W. Sommer in 1992; and her sister-in-law, Mary Jane Gordon in 2004. Funeral services for Hazel will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 4 p.m. with Rev. Donald Johnson officiating. Interment will take place in Oakwood Cemetery in Beloit, WI. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be directed to Lincoln Lutheran Becker-Shoop Center.
