RACINE – Harold E. "Mike" Matter, 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 14, 2015. Mike was born in Racine on October 6, 1922 to Hugo and Anna (nee, Mautz) Matter. On October 26, 1946, Mike married the former Lorraine Seyferth, celebrating 68 years of marriage. Mike served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He retired from Badger Tool & Die. In retirement he spent over nineteen years working at Johnson Park Golf Course where he also spent many hours golfing. He loved gardening and in his younger days he enjoyed hunting and playing in softball leagues. Mike was a member of the Stamp Club and a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Mike is survived by his wife, Lorraine Matter; children, Pat (Don) Servi and Steve (Eunice) Matter; daughter-in-law, Val Matter; grandchildren, Matthew Matter, Andrew Matter, Gina (Mike) Lewis and Janna Servi; and his great grandson, Liam Michael Lewis. Mike is also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sons, Gary Matter and Michael Matter. A funeral service for Mike will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2065 Geneva Street, on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stephen Jennings officiating. Interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Heart Association or a charity of one's choice.
