Obituary
Born in Racine, Wisconsin to Rick and Dede Doerflinger on June 20, 1986. Gretchen came home to a house her parents still live in. Three years later she would welcome her brother Ian to the same home where they would grow to become inseparable. It's rare to see a family live 40 years in the same house, moreso to live next door to your best friend, (her's was Tracy) - then both grow up, move away, have kids the same age, and still remain best friends. That's who Gretchen was. She loved hard, she was passionate about her friends and family, her smile; so vibrant, her energy; so magnetic.
That's exactly how I found her.
Living in Los Angeles, in the heart of Hollywood in 2011, she found me, standing on the sidewalk. With her infectious smile and outgoing personality, her love of life was immediately apparent, and from that day on our lives were intertwined. As our love grew, so did our family.
Gretchen gave birth to our first daughter; Kennedy Giselle Even on September 27, 2013 in Hollywood, California. This would be the start of our next adventure as we would move from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.
Shortly after settling into our new Vegas home, Gretchen's brother Ian moved to Las Vegas from San Diego. We would stay close and eventually all live together as Gretchen and I welcomed daughter #2; Kash G. Even, into the world on April 27, 2018.
Gretchen loved life, loved her friends and her family, but I've never seen someone love something or someone like Gretchen loved Kennedy and Kash.
In 2021 Gretchen received her degree in cosmetology. She had only just begun her career in what she was passionate about; helping people. She loved pulling us into a game night and doing any and all of the crafts she could - her artistic mind was so underrated. It's like she always knew how to fill the hole that was missing... but there is no way to fill the empty space in our hearts... for she was the thread that tied us together, and forever our hearts will be bound with the love we feel for her.

Gretchen will be dearly missed by her children Kennedy and Kash Even, partner Kyle Even, parents Rick and Dede Doerflinger (nee: Koehler), brother Ian Doerflinger and lifelong friend Tracy Barbian. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends. Gretchen was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Funeral services for Gretchen will be held on Thursday, June 13, at 6:00 p.m. at Purath-Strand Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at the the funeral home.
