Grace Edna Meitner passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Ascension Hospital in Franklin, WI.
She was born March 9, 1930, to William and Freida Butzlaff, joining a family that would grow to 12 children. She attended school at St Johns Evangelical Lutheran and Girls Technical High School, Milwaukee, WI.
Grace would meet the love of her life, George Harold Meitner at the Eagles Club dance hall, Milwaukee, WI and would marry on February 23, 1952. They fell short of celebrating 64 years together with George passing on February 7, 2016. Together they enjoyed many wonderful vacations, cruises and camping outings with family and friends along with occasional visits to casinos and their many favorite restaurants, especially Infusino's in Racine.
Grace had a great love for the Lord and was a long-time member of St. Mary's by the Lake Catholic Church, Racine, WI with her husband George. She was very involved and enjoyed helping with the church while forming many long-lasting friendships.
Grace was employed over the years at Allen Bradley, Western Publishing and lastly American Motors/ Chrysler until 1989 when she retired.
She had great love for her family and was overjoyed with the additions of grand and great grandchildren, including fur babies. Family and friends were very important to her making every effort to stay in touch either by phone, letters or cards. Grace was notorious in trying to keep up with birthdays and other special family celebrations. Among her favorite things were cooking, baking, shopping, cookouts, taking rides, ice cream and always making sure she had a good supply of her favorite O&H Bakery Kringle. She also loved cheering on her favorite Wisconsin sports teams, especially the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.
Grace Meitner is survived by her son's Larry (Teresa) Meitner, Bruce (Joanne) Meitner and daughter, Eileen Meitner; 7 grandchildren, Bruce (Paula), Shannon (Rocky), Kelly Soik (Josh), Nichole (Ben) Bump, Ryan (Abby), Justin (Emily) and Garrett (Caitlin) Ramquist, and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria and brother, Ron. She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, George; son, Gary Meitner; granddaughter, Bria Meitner as well as Grace's 9 brothers and sisters.
Services will be held on Saturday August 10, 2024 at Purath-Strand Funeral Home, 3915 Douglas Ave, Racine, WI.
Visitation is from 10:00 -11:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m.
