Obituary

Gloria Jean Maciejczak

September 24, 1943 – April 20, 2025

Gloria Jean Maciejczak (née Drobniewski), age 81, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, in Racine, Wisconsin, just as she had lived—with love surrounding her.

Born in Milwaukee on September 24, 1943, Gloria was the daughter of Eldine Novak and Chester Drobniewski. She was raised in a joy-filled household alongside her siblings—Mary Beth, Paulette, Ruthie, and Dennis—and graduated from South Division High School.

Gloria's life changed forever when Robert J. Maciejczak arrived to pick her up for their blind date. It didn't take long after that first meeting for Gloria and Robert to realize they had found their forever in each other. The two were married on September 7, 1963, and created a home filled with laughter and steady devotion.

Gloria dedicated herself full-time to raising their three children and later, caring for her grandchildren. She had a heart for nurturing and a talent for turning everyday moments into beautiful memories. Gloria's needlepoint pillowcases have become treasured keepsakes, and her homemade peanut butter cups were legendary among family and friends. She also had a love for ironing—always searching for something more to press—as well as a fondness for John Wayne movies, playing cribbage, and camping trips throughout Wisconsin. These outdoor adventures were some of her happiest times, shared with her children and grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Robert J. Maciejczak; her siblings, Mary Beth (Mike) Tonyan and Paulette Hill; her children, Lynn (Perry) Borzych, Mike (Jennifer) Maciejczak, and Lisa (John) DeHahn; her grandchildren, Stephen, Samantha, Amanda, Rachel, Nathaniel, and Noah; and seven great-grandchildren.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Eldine and Chester; her sister, Ruthie and brother Dennis; and her grandson, Chase, who held a special place in her heart.

A private family funeral will be held in honor of Gloria's life. The family extends their deepest thanks to the compassionate team at Legacy Hospice, whose attentive care and kindness during her final months meant more than words can say.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gloria's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
