Gilbert H. EickhorstRacine- Gilbert H. Eickhorst, 80, passed away at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center on Friday, November 19, 2010.Gilbert was born in Racine on October 3, 1930 to Ernest and Minnie (nee: Grua) Eickhorst. He married Doris Klepel on February 9, 1952. Gilbert served in the United States Army from 1952-1954. He was employed as Vice President of Industrial Relations at Racine Steel Casting. Gilbert spent 6 months of the year in North Fort Meyers, Fl with his wife Doris. He enjoyed fishing, reading, crossword puzzles and anything Civil War related. He was the number one fan of his grandchildren's sporting events, a Brewer, Packer and Badger fan. He is survived by his wife Doris Eickhorst; children, Gary (Chris) Eickhorst, Warren (Kristin) Eickhorst and Diana (Tom) Meier; six Grandchildren, Barbara (27), Eric (24), Brittney (21), Jennifer (16), Alex (11) and Matthew (8). Gilbert is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy and brothers, Willard and Herbert.Funeral services for Gilbert will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 1501 Erie Street, on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Daniel B. Quinn officiating. Interment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials to St. John Lutheran Church or School have been suggested.
