Obituary

RACINE - Gerald Frederick Exner, age 83, passed away at his residence on December 20th, 2015 with his family by his side.Jerry was born in Racine on March 7, 1932, son of the late Conrad and Helena (Nee Schmidt) Exner. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Margaret Molbeck on November 29, 1952 while home on leave. Jerry was proud to serve our country as a US Marine.Jerry and Evelyn had 3 daughters and were married for 61 wonderful years, making their home in Racine. He spent his life in the automotive industry as a certified auto mechanic, body man and painter. He was employed at several local body shops and at one time owned his own business. He was last employed as an insurance adjuster. He enjoyed a good game of cribbage – whether he won or not, and considered any day of fishing a good one – whether the fish were biting or not. He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, car racing, and spending time at his trailer on Fox Lake – pretty much anything he could do alone or with family and friends.Jerry is survived by his daughters: Kristy (Steve) Bandy of Stevens Point, Gail (Buzz) Faust of Racine, and Nancy (Peter) Martin of Grand Rapids, MI; 12 grandchildren: Kate Jaeger, Kara (Andy) Borchardt, Kasey, Nathan, Natalie and Tess Bandy, Kelsey and Dana Faust, and Ashley, Jordan, Colin and Tanner Martin; one great-grandson, Finley Borchardt; brothers Conrad Exner and LeRoy (Mildred) Exner; brothers-in-law: James Molbeck, Jack (Judy) Molbeck and Ralph (Brenda) Molbeck; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and too many friends to count.Jerry is now reunited, in the heavenly home prepared for him by our Savior Jesus, with those who have gone before him, including his wife and best friend Evelyn, his parents Conrad and Helena, his parents-in-law Bernt and Gertrude Molbeck, sisters-in-law Margie Exner, Jean Ostergaard and Shirley Molbeck.A memorial service celebrating Jerry's life will be at Purath-Strand Funeral Home on Saturday, December 26th, 2015 at 12pm. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home from 10:30am-12pm.
