GREEN BAY – Gene E. Busarow, 92, passed away at his home in Green Bay on Monday, August 16, 2021. Gene was born in Racine on July 9, 1929, to the late Nick and Dorothy (nee Borgardt) Busarow. He married the former Judith A. Berg in Valparaiso, IN on July 10, 1950. After attending college in Platteville, Gene went to work for his future father-in-law, Wally Berg at Berg's Service Station. In 1968, Gene bought the business from Wally and continued operating it until his retirement in 1990. Shortly after he retired, Gene moved to Green Bay to be closer to his daughter. Gene's fondest memories of Racine are from spending time on the Borgardt farm, playing baseball with his cousins and uncles on various Racine teams including the Redbirds. He was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed going to the games with his family. Gene was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Racine and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Green Bay. He was also actively involved in the choirs. Survivors include his children, Jayne Busarow and Jeff (Yvonne) Busarow; sister, Judy (Bruce) Kosmatka; and his sisters-in-law, Carol Busarow, Helen Busarow, Janet (Jerry) Burke and Jeanne Christoff. Gene is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gilbert Busarow, Don Busarow and Ron Busarow; brother-in-law Ted Christoff; and sister-in-law, Peggy Busarow. A funeral service for Gene will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 23, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church-Racine, Redeemer Lutheran Church-Green Bay or the Gilbert/Dan Busarow Seminary Scholarship at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO.
