Obituary
Gale was born in Racine on September 21, 1939, daughter of the late Samuel P. and Rosalie A. (nee: Uveges) Cicero. She was a graduate of St. Catherine's High School "Class of 1958". On May 25, 1968, Gale was united in marriage to William "Bill" A. Markus, who preceded her in death on October 21, 2015. Gale was a lifelong resident of Racine until moving to Waterford Senior Living in 2020 after a brief illness. She worked for many years at the former Shorecrest Pharmacy on Racine's Northside. Gale was a longtime fan of Elvis and enjoyed Racine's local John Van Thiel's impersonation of Elvis prior to her moving to Waterford. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going out for dinner, watching Brewers games, playing bingo, as well as soaking up the sun on the patio and working on her tan. Gale was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her daughter Jane (Timothy) Slusar; her grandchildren, Tia (Andrew Boho) Slusar of Waterford, and Zakari Slusar of Oshkosh; her brother, Samuel F. Cicero; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bruzas. Gale is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Lynn V. Hurtt; sister, Camille "Pamela" Moran; and lifelong friend, Joanne Sholly.
Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family on Wednesday, April 30th at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Highway 32. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the wonderful angels at Amedisys Hospice (Stacy Raebel, Kaitlyn Pritchard), and Waterford Senior Living and Memory Care for their care and compassion. Gale was a 'favorite'.
