Frank PutraWatertown - Frank Putra, 93, died on Monday March 7, 2011, in Marquardt Memorial Manor, Watertown Wisconsin. Frank was born in Racine on February 11, 1918, the son of the late John and Alexandra (nee: Novikowski) Putra. He married the former Lillian M. Ruppel. Frank worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Depression. He served his country during World War II in the 32rd Infantry Division, Red Arrow Division, Army National Guard. He served 3 years of combat duty in the South Pacific and attained the rank of Master Sgt. He worked as a machinist at Ladish Co. in Cudahy until retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Frank delighted in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Lutheran Chapel of the Cross. Surviving are sons Mark (Susan) Putra of Watertown, Tim (Deb Scharff) of Wales, Ben (Caryn) of Westchester, IL; granddaughters Jana (Tim) Strobel and Linnea (Eric) Nagel of Watertown and Anne Putra of Milwaukee; Great-granddaughters Addison Marie Strobel and Landrie Marie Nagel; his sisters, Helen Brezney of Racine, Florence (Gene) Ahnen of Bayfield, Stella Putra of Racine; and sisters- in-law, Anne Putra, and Esther Heffel also of Racine. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian M. Putra (Ruppel); his sisters and brothers, Phil Putra, Jessie Putra, Esther Clickner, Bernice Putra, John Putra, Stanley Putra, and Peter Putra; sisters-in-law, Martha Sandin, Bertha Chadwick, Romayne Ruppel; brothers-in-law, Earl Heffel, Roy Sandin, Ed Ruppel, Alex Ruppel, Joe Brezney, Howard Clickner; and great grandson Evan M. Strobel.The funeral service for Frank will be held at Lutheran Chapel of the Cross, 1426 N. Fancher Road, on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Feldscher officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park with Full Military Honors. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lutheran Chapel of the Cross Building Fund.
