RACINE – Floyd F. Wernicke, 90, passed away at Maple Ridge Rehab Center in Milwaukee on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Floyd was born in Racine on December 21, 1926 to Arthur and Martha (nee, Stadeck) Wernicke. He married the former Dorothy M. Weil. Floyd was Chief Engineer at Western Publishing Company, retiring after more than thirty years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Floyd was proud of his military service, annually attending his ships (U.S.S. Pocomoke) reunion. He also loved working in his vegetable garden and was an avid bowler. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Wernicke; sons, David (Lori) Wernicke and Jeffrey Wernicke; and his grandchildren, Sydney Wernicke, Julia Wernicke and Nick Wernicke. Floyd is also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Barbara Hayward; brother, Arthur Wernicke; and sister, Grace Wernicke. Funeral services for Floyd will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2065 Geneva Street, on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Stephan Jennings officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the church on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m.
