Evelyn J. Rupnow Racine – Evelyn J. Rupnow, nee, Schmoock, 95, passed away at Becker Shoop Center on Thursday, July 14, 2011. Evelyn was born in Coloma, WI on January 27, 1916 to Carl and Bertha M. (nee, Lechner) Schmoock. She married Leslie Rupnow in Coloma, WI on February 24, 1940. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2007. Evelyn did many crafts for her family and friends. She made many quilts for the family and the mission field. She hooked rugs, embroidered pillow cases, did china painting, ceramic and many others. Evelyn was a food leader in the Burbank 4-H. She was a member of the mission Guild and Bible class at each church she belonged. She also loved to fish and play cards. Survivors include her children, Alice (Edwin) Walters, Beverly Loterbaugh, Elaine (Freddie) Elliott; grandchildren, Mark and Cindy Foth, Leslie and Berrack Walters, Kirby Walters, Keith and Vicky Elliott, David Elliott, Lynne Elliott, James and Lou Loterbaugh, and Craig and Jo Lee Allen; 16 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and her sister Clara Tessmann. Evelyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanne Nelis; brothers, Ernest Schmoock, August Schmoock, Kenneth Schmoock, Gilbert Schmoock, and Antone Schmoock; sister, Millie Smith; brothers-in-law, Melvin Rupnow, Walter Tessmann and Hollis Smith; and sisters-in-law, Katherine Schmoock and Violet Heiden. Memorial services for Evelyn will be held at Lutheran Chapel of the Cross, 1426 N. Fancher Road, Racine, WI on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Feldscher and Rev. Brian Liermann officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the Church on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. Inurnment will take place in Randolph Cemetery.
