RACINE – Evelyn L. Kapow, 94, passed away at Hospice House in Racine on Thursday, October 2, 2014. Evelyn was born in Racine on February 7, 1920 to the late Alex and Wanda (nee, Meyer) Kapow. She attended St. John's Lutheran Elementary School and graduated from William Horlick High School in 1938. Evelyn was employed as a secretary by several Racine Companies. She was a world traveler and was always planning the next trip. She was a member of Lutheran Chapel of the Cross, their Ladies Guild and the Lincoln Lutheran Home Auxiliary. She was also a regular volunteer at the Lathrop Avenue Lutheran High School Thrift Shop. Evelyn is survived by her sister, Mildred Levengood of Racine; nieces, Linda Levengood of Greendale, and Louise (Michael) Hansen of Sheboygan; grandniece, Katie (Michael) Donzanti of Orlando, FL; grandnephew, Scott Hansen of Sheboygan; and brother-in-law, Glenn Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Johnson; special nephew, Marc Johnson; and brother-in-law, Russell Levengood. Funeral services for Evelyn will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Brian Liermann officiating. A private interment will take place at Mound Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Chapel of the Cross or a charity of one's choice. Evelyn's family would like to thank the caring staff of St. Monica's Senior Living Center, Racine, where she was a resident the past eight months; to special friends, Charlotte Roshar, Betty Pinnow and Gloria Tischer, and to the compassionate staff at Hospice House, Racine, where Evelyn spent her last days.
