Evelyn Jane CareyRacine- Evelyn Jane Carey, 82, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare on Wednesday, September 12, 2007.Evelyn was born in Racine to Frederick and Vlasta Helen (nee: Pluhar) Oertel. She married James A. Carey at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church on June 29, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1990. Evelyn was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Evangelical Church. She was a past Sunday school teacher, usher and a member of the altar guild. Evelyn was also a member of the Rocker club of St. Luke's Hospital and the Beacon Club.Evelyn is survived by 3 daughters, Patricia (Richard) Hohnl of Racine, WI, Pamela (Richard) Cramer of Menasha, WI, and Peggy Carey of Stockton, CA; grandchildren, Ryan Hohnl, Richard (Kari) Hohnl, Jr., Michael (Melissa) Hohnl, Carey (Sean) McElrath, Cindy (Thomas Lopez) Cramer, Sandy Cramer, Kristen Glenn, Matthew (Jennifer) Glenn, Andrew Glenn, James Carey, Jason Carey, and Jacqueline (Eric) Kiffmeyer and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by other relatives and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her only son, James Michael Carey and her parents.Funeral Services for Evelyn will be held at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. with James F. Peters officiating. Interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services. Memorials to Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church or One's Favorite Charity have been suggested. The family wish's to thank the ICU staff, and also the nurses' on the cardiac wing of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare for the care and compassion they showed to our mother.
