RACINE – Elmer J. Herchen, 95, passed away at the Villa at Lincoln Park on Monday, September 5, 2016. Elmer was born in Racine on June 27, 1921 to John and Helen Herchen. He married the former Janet R. Fox who preceded him in death. Elmer served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He retired from Mamco Inc. Elmer was an active member of Grace Lutheran church. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer, golfing in several leagues at Ives Grove Golf Course. Survivors include his sons, Ronald "Rocky" Herchen and David (Stephanie Geis) Herchen; granddaughter, Margaret "Meg" (Robert) Kosterman; great grandchildren, Reese, Dalton, Scarlett and Lane; and his sister, Jean Sullivan. Elmer is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister, Fayanne and brother Bobby. A funeral service for Elmer will be held at the West Lawn Memorial Park Chapel on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. A visitation will be held in the chapel from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.
