Racine – Ella Marie (nee, Christiansen) Nielsen, 89, passed away peacefully at her home with her family on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Ella was born in Racine on September 27, 1923 to Hans and Sofie (nee, Hansen) Christiansen. On February 7, 1942 she married J. Erik Nielsen. He preceded her in death in 2000. Ella was a lifelong member of Emmaus Lutheran Church. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ella enjoyed reading, gardening, camping and spending time with her family. Survivors include her children, Ulla (Dave) Evans, Ib (Patricia) Nielsen, Mary Ann Miller, Carl (Randi) Nielsen, Linda (Walter) Dahlke, Carol (Bill) Robuck, Julie Lynch and John (Carol) Nielsen; grandchildren, Thomas, Carl, Cynthia, Debra, Heather, Rachel, Jennifer, Jason, Kathy, Jill, Matthew, and Kristina; great grandchildren, Ian, Kameron, Nathanial, Olivia, Alex, Adrian, Finn, Jonas, Sofie, Logan, Lauren Joseph, Elijah, Gabriel, Armaressa, Jacquelyn, Alaina and Adonice. Ella is also survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Alice Hayhome. Funeral services for Ella will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mary Janz officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to Emmaus Lutheran Church or Wheaton Franciscan Hospice.
