Racine – Elizabeth (nee, VanDerLugt) Joosse, 97, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Elizabeth was born in Hull, IA on November 3, 1915 to Martin and Adriana (nee, Jongste) VanDerLugt. On April 10, 1935 she married George Joosse. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1999. Mrs. Joosse was an amazing woman who was always helping others. Elizabeth was an active member of Racine Christian Reformed Church involved in various outreach ministries to include: past President of the Church School Guild, Mother's Coffee Break Bible Study, home Bible Class for neighborhood children and Chapel Ministry. She also volunteered for more than 25 years at the Lincoln Lutheran Home. Elizabeth will be greatly missed by her children, Stanley (Laureli) Joosse of San Diego, CA, Wayne (Anamarie) Joosse of Grand Rapids, MI and Mark (Martha) Joosse of El Paso, TX; four grandchildren, S. Brian (Gwen Seeley-Joosse) Joosse, Scott Joosse, Matthew (Alexandra) Joosse and Michael Joosse; two great-granddaughters, Tess and Gemma Seeley-Joosse; and one brother and sister-in-law, Bill & Katherine VanDerLugt in California. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and three brothers. Funeral services for Elizabeth will be held at Racine Christian Reformed Church on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Doug Aldrink officiating. Interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 AM. until the time of the service.
