Racine – Eleanor G. Zalesak, nee Krueger, 92, passed away peacefully at Ridgewood Care Center with her daughter Susan and granddaughter, Jennifer at her side, Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Eleanor was blessed to have her Jenny watching over her almost daily as a member of Ridgewood's Activities Department. Eleanor was born in Good Thunder, MN on March 7, 1920 to Frank and Nora (nee, Dehn) Krueger. On March 13, 1943, Eleanor married Joseph Zalesak in Walla Walla, WA, enjoying 69 years, seven months and eighteen days devoted to each other. Eleanor loved her family and loved her flowers, whether they be nurturing seedlings in her garden or creating beautiful silk arrangements. She was a strong, inspirational and caring woman who had a smile that lit up a room. She left her impression on everyone she met and will be deeply missed. Eleanor is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Joe; children, Joe Zalesak, Susan (Robert) Youngblood and Jon (Vicki) Zalesak; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Willems, Danny (Samantha) Zalesak, Evan (Anna) Zalesak, Bryan Zalesak, Matthew Zalesak, Peter Zalesak, Anna Zalesak, Carolynn Zalesak, Monica Zalesak, Emily Zalesak and Victor Zalesak; and great-grandchildren, Jada and Joshua Willems, Danalia, Sathaniel and Sammy Zalesak, and Stella Zalesak. She is further survived by sisters-in-law, Patricia Krueger and Mary Bliss; brother-in-law, Lloyd Bellaire; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eldon (Peg) Krueger, Wallace Krueger and Carlyle (Betty) Krueger; sisters and brothers-in-law, Audrey (Gordon) Jacobsen, Eunice Bellaire, Carol (Glen) Lundin and William Zalesak; and a grandson, Joseph Zalesak. Funeral services for Eleanor will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Donald Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Bohemian National Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Ridgewood Activities Department. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire care team on all three shifts on two east at Ridgewood and deep gratitude to Martha, Carol, Jill and Dr. Gierahn for their compassion and care; the entire activities department and everyone who went above and beyond providing mom with the love and compassion that made her final years the very best they could be.
