Edward F. Gessner Racine - Edward F. Gessner, 80, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 3, 2007. Ed was born in Chicago, IL on January 6, 1927 to Frederick and Caroline (nee, Smith) Gessner. He married the former Lorraine G. Redfern. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2004. On September 23, 2006 he married the former Mary 'Mickey' Grzybowski. Ed served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from Illinois Bell after more than 46 years of service. Ed enjoyed boating, fishing and cooking for his family. Survivors include his wife, Mary 'Mickey' Gessner; children, Greg Gessner, Glen (Vickie) Gessner, Grant Gessner, Gale (Ron) Issleb and Mike (Kim) Grzybowski; and his grandchildren, Jason, Brian, Ryan, Samantha, Stephanie, Sean, Cody, Katie, Kevin and Kyle. Inurnment services for Ed will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 21731 Spring Street, on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to any veteran's service organization.
