Racine- Draginja Radovanovic passed away Saturday evening, January 31, 2026 while surrounded by the love of her family.
Draginja was born 86 years ago in Bijeljina, Bosnia, in the former country of Yugoslavia to the late Mitar, a war hero, and the endearing Danica (nee: Micic) Tanasic. In Bijeljina, she met and married her husband of 65 years, Milorad Radovanovic. In 1967 they immigrated to the United States and built a life together in Racine with their three daughters. Her life included gardens that were admired by all who benefitted from their bounty; family meals prepared with love and devotion that were offered to all who entered her home; and heirlooms of needlework artistry that she spent decades completing for her children and grandchildren. Her family is left heartbroken and bereft at the loss of such an incredible woman of strength, dignity, and selflessness.
She is survived by her husband Milorad Radovanovic; her three daughters Ljiljana Kojic, Svetlana Radovanovic, Diana (James) Fenton; her grandchildren Milorad, Jelena, and Milena Kojic and Gabriella, Noah, Jana, and Jack Fenton; and her great-grand children Natalie, Orion, Lila and Phoebe.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Milka.
Visitation for Draginja will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 826 State Street, Racine, WI 53404. Funeral Services will be held at the church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, followed by a daća (repast) at St. George church.
