Racine – Dorothy M. Scharping, 85, passed away at Franciscan Villa in South Milwaukee on Monday, December 27, 2010. Dorothy was born in Antigo on December 6, 1925 to Walter and Cassilda (nee, Wendorf) Holbrook. She married Fred. G. Scharping in Antigo on July 18, 1953. Dorothy was a graduate of the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Milwaukee. She worked for the Antigo Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital in Racine. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Women's Association and a life member and past president of the Lincoln Lutheran Auxiliary. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Fred W. (Kathy) Scharping, John (Sherri) Scharping, Gary (Deb) Scharping and Paul (Jackie) Scharping; grandchildren, Robert, Scott (Amy), Stacie, Erin, Jamey (Matt), Kelli (Matt), Holly, Kevin, Konner, Lyn, Leslie, Jennifer and Max; great-grandchildren, Madison and Parker; and sister-in-law, Ruth Anderson. Dorothy is also survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred G. Sharping; parents; and brother-in-law, Don Anderson. A memorial service for Dorothy will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3011 Erie Street, on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 6 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Foundation or a charity of one's choice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Rene and Lisa with Vitas Hospice and to Donna, Diane and Elizabeth at Franciscan Villa for all of their care and compassion.
