Dorothy Marie Nelson, 90, passed away at Ascension Healthcare All Saints on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. Dorothy was born in Racine on November 13, 1927 to Jacob and Louise (Myers) Johnson. She attended St. Rose Catholic School, graduated from Park High School and attended Lake Forest College. Dorothy married David Nelson on January 19, 1949. She enjoyed entertaining, reading and traveling to Las Vegas with friends. Dorothy was a great card player and an American Contract Bridge Life Master. She was a member of several Bridge and Schafkopf groups. Dorothy is survived by her husband David and their children. Ellen (Geoffrey) Zabrowski, Gordon (Tina) Nelson, David Nelson and Kenneth (Marcie) Nelson; grandchildren, Caryn Schwengel, Janet Zabrowski, Randy Nelson, Luke Nelson, Rory Nelson, Carter Nelson and great grandchildren, Hailey, John, Alex, Liam and Harper. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings, Marge, Marion, Lucille, Richard and Betty. According to Dorothy's wishes services were private. Memorials in Dorothy's name have been suggested to the Racine Public Library or Health Care Network.
