RACINE – Dorothy Lillian Engberg, 89, passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2016. Dorothy was born in Racine on January 24, 1927, daughter of August and Martha (Maurer) Schink. She was married on May 3, 1953 to William Christensen who preceded her in death in 1956. She was then married to Lawrence Engberg on November 16, 1957 who preceded her in death in 1985. Dorothy was employed at Met-al, Inc. for over 30 years. She enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Las Vegas with her brother Harold, cooking, and her angel and butterfly collections. Her love of Genealogy was inspired by her great love for her family She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Trinity Troopers. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her daughter, Eileen (Steve) Fischer; son, Richard Christensen; and daughter, Noreen Engberg; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Nicholas and Kevin (Gina) Fischer, Adam (Bonnie) Christensen, Kathryn Bublitz, Justin and Andrew Christensen; six great grandchildren, Brookelyn, Olivia, Allison and Liam Fischer and Eavy and Sully Christensen; special sister-in-law, Norma Engberg; and her deck buddy, Wilda Tresider. Dorothy is also survived by many relatives and friends too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her parents August and Martha; husband, Billy; husband, Larry; brother, Harold Schink; and best friend, Gladys Toler. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2065 Geneva Street, on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Jennings officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the church on Tuesday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Wheaton Franciscan Hospice for their care, especially Emily, Kelly, April and Heather.
