Racine – Doris "Donna" Talley passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Wisconsin Veterans Home. Donna was born on April 17, 1921, daughter of Frank and Helen (nee, McElligott) Ryan. She spent her childhood on the family farm near Ryan, Iowa. She attended Ottumwa Heights College before joining the WAVES where she served as a medic. Upon her discharge from the Navy, she married John McKimmy and moved to Wisconsin where they raised their five children. Donna received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from UW-Whitewater and taught chemistry and math at Gateway Technical College until her retirement in 1991. She volunteered as a tutor at Gateway. She also sang in choirs at St. Patrick's and St. Edward's churches. Donna is survived by her children, Pat McKimmy, Mike McKimmy, Rita (Jim Frederking) McKimmy and Peggy Bushey; step-daughter, Diane Eisen; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Marian Steins, Louis Ryan, Rosie Ryan, Bernard Ryan and Rita Landherr; and special friend, Mary Ellen Harvey. Donna was preceded in death by her three husbands, John McKimmy, Bob Hansen and Bob Talley; her son, Mark McKimmy; and daughter-in-law, Eva McKimmy. A memorial service for Donna will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 12 noon. Inurnment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to St. Edward's Catholic Church.
