Racine – Djukan Markovic, 82, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints, on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Djukan was born in Gracanica, Serbia on November 1, 1931 to Milutin and Ruzica (nee, Ciric) Markovic. He married Mileva (Simic) Markovic in 1949 in Gracanica, Serbia and immigrated to the United States in 1976. He was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church and was very active in the church. He retired from Racine Steel Castings. Survivors include his two sons, Milosav (Leposava) Markovic and Petar (Vesna) Markovic, both of Racine; two daughters, Zivka (Dragisa) Dikanovic and Rosa (Brana) Carkic, both of Prnjavor Macvanski, Serbia; six grandchildren, Natasa Markovic of Arizona, Nenad (Elizabeth) Markovic of Milwaukee, Milan Markovic and Marija Markovic of Racine, Sinisa (Svetlana) Dikanovic, Ljubisa (Slavica) Dikanovic, and Aleksandar Carkic; great-grandchildren, David, Katarina and Luka Dikanovic all of Prnjavor Macvanski, Serbia, Jelena Djordjveic of Arizona and Noah-Filip Markovic of Milwaukee; and his three brothers, Uros Markovic and Ilija Markovic both of Arizona, and Stanisa Markovic of Racine. Djukan is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milutin and Ruzica Markovic; sister, Rosa Simic; and nephew, Milutin Simic. Funeral services for Djukan will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 9 a.m. and at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Braun Road, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Petar Sailovic officiating. Interment will take place at Good Hope Cemetery in Milwaukee. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. the Mali Pomen will be held at 7 p.m.
