Obituary

Racine - Denver H. Jennings, beloved CEO and patriarch of 'Team Jennings', passed away in peace at 4:45 A.M. Sat. July 16th, 2011 at All Saints Hospital in Racine, WI.Formerly a life-long resident of Terre Haute, IN, Denver, in true keeping of his motto, 'I did it my way', after his favorite Frank Sinatra song, decided to move to Racine in Jan. of 2009, and, still independent, drove his car, resided in his own apartment, and quickly made many new friends.Volumes would be required to relate all of his accomplishments, his successes, and his wonderful stories. He was, in the most literal sense of the phrase, a self-made man. He held a critical position in the munitions department of DuPont during WWII, worked highway construction, worked for the railroad, owned and operated several automobile service stations, and, during the last 25 of his working years, was the General Manager of two different Chevrolet dealerships. To say that cars were his passion would be an understatement, having come by that naturally. His parents attended the very 1st Indianapolis '500' for their honeymoon! His other passions were his family and his dedication to them in all ways, his many friends, vegetable gardening, and his zest for life.Denver was born in Farmersburg, IN., on March 27th, 1913, of Raymon and Gertie Jennings. He was graduated from Farmersburg H.S. home of the 'Plough Boys', in 1931. He was united in marriage to Frances Anne Sherer at St. Margaret Mary's Church in Terre Haute, IN. on December 4th, 1937. Frances preceded Denver in death, passing in Nov. of 2005.Also preceding Denver in death were his parents, Raymon and Gertie Jennings and his brother, Ted Jennings. Denver is survived by his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Eric Jennings, of Mt. Pleasant, WI., and by his 'baby' brother, Lee Jennings of Sebring, FL. and by several nieces and nephews. There will be private services in Racine, WI. Tues., and another graveside service at Westlawn Cemetery in Farmersburg, IN. at a later date yet to be determined.Denver will be dearly and forever loved and missed by so many whose lives he brightened. How does one say good-bye to such a force of nature? 'Good Lord, show me the way.'The family would like to thank Dr. Tomas Goodrich for all of his care.
