MILWAUKEE - David C. Sears, 70, formerly of Racine, passed away on Thursday, January 15 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee after a lengthy illness. Born on July 17, 1944 in Milwaukee, David moved with his family to Racine in 1957 where he resided most of his life. He graduated from Horlick High School in 1962 and then received an associate's degree from the Racine Technical Institute. He immediately began a distinguished career as an accountant working for Earl W. Hammil and Co. and the Clifford Gunderson and Company, and later as the comptroller for Diamond Transportation. During tax season he would work long hours and was valued by his employers because of his expertise on corporate taxes. He had been retired for a number of years.There was nothing David enjoyed more than attending Brewers games with his family, most often sitting in the right field bleachers at County Stadium. He was an avid bowler who bowled in the same Tuesday night league at Paradise Lanes for decades. David also spent countless summer evenings and afternoons playing cribbage with his father and brothers while seated at the picnic table in the driveway at his parents' home. He was a generous and caring man and the family is forever grateful for the loving care he provided his parents during the latter stages of their lives. He is survived by his sister Carol Perce of Muskego; brother William (Laurie) Sears of Traverse City, MI; nephews Charles Perce of Sheboygan and Jeffrey Perce of Racine; nieces Sandra (Nicholas) Zeleski of Waterford, Kelsey (Jay) Walton of St. Louis, MO and Natalie Sears of Grand Rapids, MI; great nieces Kathrine, Laura and Kelli Zeleski, all of Waterford; and his dear friend Carla DenHartigh of Racine. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and June, and a brother, Thomas.Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Clare Terrace Assisted Living, 3553 41st St.. Milwaukee, WI 53221. Cremation has taken place and the family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
