RACINE – Darlene J. Hartgerink, 76, passed away unexpectedly at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints on Sunday, October 18, 2015. Darlene was born in Tomahawk, WI on February 26, 1939 to Rev. Carl and Esther (nee, Rewoldt) Henning. On August 15, 1959, Darlene married Edward Hartgerink. Darlene was an active member of New Hope Lutheran Church. She was always ready to help anybody and was an active volunteer for Calvary Academy, Shoreland Lutheran High School and the Wise Penney Retail Shop. Darlene loved her family and was very active in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Darlene is survived by her devoted husband, Edward Hartgerink; beloved mother of Brian Hartgerink, Brett (Kim) Hartgerink and Julie (Matt) Eisenhauer; loving grandmother to Riley, Olivia, Anna, Ashley, Nina and Nancy; and great-grandmother to Lexi; Darlene is also survived by her sister, Arlene Fisher; niece, Karen Schwinn; other relatives and many friends including her favorite canine friends, Bailey and Macy. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bruce Hartgerink; and her four brothers. Funeral services for Darlene will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Phil Janke officiating. Interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to New Hope Lutheran Church.
