Racine – Cynthia A. Wanek, nee, Hannan, 70, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Cindy was born in Cleveland, OH on September 18, 1943 to Robert and Betty (nee, Berkheimer) Hannan. She retired from the City of Racine Environmental Services. Cindy always loved her job and fellow co-workers. She enjoyed meeting her friends regularly for breakfast, gardening, nature, and bird watching, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Cindy is survived by her daughter and son in law, Beth (Robert) David; granddaughters, Kim Rickert, Ashley Wanek McCue, and Allison McCue and great grandson, Carmelo Rickert; and her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia (Garry) Shilling. Cynthia is also survived by extended family and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristy Wanek; her parents; and her former husband, Joseph Wanek.A memorial service for Cindy will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Tony Larson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hope Safehouse or the Wisconsin Humane Society, Racine Campus.
