Obituary

Racine - Connie Lee Palmer (nee, Wales) age 61 of Racine went to sleep in the arms of her Savior on August 30, 2012. She fought hard against cancer for more than 2 years. Her Lord prepared her home for her during those years and is ready to welcome her to her eternal home.Connie was born in Madison, WI, daughter of Ardis and the late Donald Wales. Connie graduated from Madison Central High School in 1969, Concordia College – Milwaukee in 1971 and Concordia University – Seward Nebraska in 1973. She began her teaching career in Guymon, Oklahoma before coming to Racine to teach at Trinity Lutheran School in 1975. She taught there until her illness did not allow it anymore. Connie married Thomas Palmer in June of 1978 here in Racine. They had been married 34 years and blessed with 2 wonderful sons and 3 fantastic grandchildren.Connie enjoyed teaching her 2nd graders for over 25 years. They were part of her family, and she would have done anything for them. Her love of the Lord shone in her classroom every day. More than her classroom, she adored times with her grandchildren.Connie is survived by her husband Tom, one son Jon (Lani) of St Louis, daughter–in–law Barb Palmer of Racine, and three grand children Evan, Haven, and Gracen of St. Louis. She is also survived by her mother Ardis and 5 brothers and sisters, George Wales of Stoughton, Gary (Diane) Wales, Greg (Cherrie) Wales, Cathy (Jack) Schulz all of Madison and Chris (Dave) Ketner of Rockford, IL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Joshua, her father, grandparents and one of her special 6yr old students who also had cancer, Ethan Taleck. Service of Christian Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Church 2035 - 65 Geneva Street Tuesday September 4th at 11am. Interment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park.Visitation will at the Funeral Home on Monday September 3rd from 4pm to 7pm and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday September 4th, 10am until time of service. Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran School and the American Cancer Society in memory of Connie. Thank you to Dr. Mullane, the entire staff at the Aurora Cancer Clinic, and to all of the hospice nurses and aides, especially Mary. Your love, care, and concern for Connie was so genuine and true. She truly loved you all.
