Racine – Charlene E. Rowland, 90, passed away at home on Saturday, January 23, 2016. Charlene was born in Racine on April 26, 1925 to Frank J. and Edna R. (nee, Felbob) Baker. She has been a lifelong Racine resident. Charlene married Robert S. Rowland in Racine on December 21, 1965. She was employed as a Veterinary Assistant with the late Lawrence W. Gerhart for eight years and with North Shore Animal Hospital and Thomas N. Torhorst for over 15 years. Charlene was a member of the American Kennel Club for many years. She bred and showed Miniature Pinschers. Survivors include her step son, Michael Rowland; step grandchildren, Katie, Trisha and Samantha; daughter, Nancy Willis and her children, James (Lindsay) Willis and Lisa Willis; great grandchildren, Emma, Liam and Logan Willis, and Colton Flores. Charlene is also survived by nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Glenn Bussian; and her brother and sister-in-law, Frank E. and Frances Baker; and two nephews, Robert Herwig and Frank J. Baker.A Memorial Service for Charlene will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 3 p.m. A private family Inurnment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. Memorials may be directed to one's favorite charity.
