Cecil E. Metz Racine – Cecil E. Metz, 90, passed away at Becker-Shoop Center on Saturday, October 25, 2014. Cecil was born in Kokomo, IN on February 3, 1924 to Cecil E. and Anice (nee, Armitage) Metz. Cecil married the former Marian R. Jacobson on November 15, 1947. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He flew twenty-five bombing missions in B-24's over Europe with the 786th Bomb Squadron, 466th Bomber Group, stationed in Attlebridge, England. Cecil wrote "Going Home, Twenty Five Bomber Missions over Europe", which is at several Air Force Historical Societies, Museums and Penn State University in addition to the Racine Public Library. Cecil earned the Purple Heart, Air Medal with five clusters and area medals. He was a member of the Army Air Corp Bands in both Miami Beach and St. Petersburg Beach, FL and the Band Master of the Salvation Army Band in Midwest USA. Cecil was the owner and operator of Central Automatic Products for over twelve years, retiring in 1977. He was also a member of several bowling teams. Cecil is survived by his children, Linda (William) Armstrong and Cecil Metz, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Ingrid Metz; grandchildren, Allison (Scott) Baran, Jennifer (Rev. William) Schaefer, Samantha Metz and William (Sarah) Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Layne Armstrong, Noah Schaefer, Angeline Schaefer and Cora Mays; and sister-in-law, Donna Metz. Cecil is also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Metz; wife, Marian Metz; grandson, Andrew Sharkozy; and brothers, Ralph Metz and Richard Metz; sister, Olive Metz; and sister-in-law Nan Metz.Funeral services for Cecil will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m.
