Cecelia Pearl Suprak (April 20, 1922 – April 2, 2025)
Cecelia P. Suprak passed away on April 2, 2025 at Ascension All Saints Franklin at the remarkable age of 102, just shy of her 103rd birthday. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Pelagia (Pearl) (Nee: Ruczinski) Czachorowski who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was the love of her life, Peter P. Suprak, who loudly announced after their first date that he had just met the woman he would marry. Cecelia and Peter were married a few months later, celebrating in grand fashion. Preceding her in death also were her brothers Ferdinand (Fred) Dumanowski (Myrtle), Bronislaw (Sonny) Czachorowski, sister Bernice Gunderson (Eugene) and her lifelong friend Florence Guilbault. Cecelia is survived by sons Paul Suprak (Racine), daughter-in-law Margaret Suprak, Lawrence Suprak (Wausau), daughter-in-law Sandy Suprak, grandchildren Margaret Suprak (Matthew Reid), Paula Jedlicka (Pete), Jon Suprak, Sara Millard (Chris), Stacy Ryan (Sean) and great grandchildren Kade Cramer, Kollin Suprak, Cole and Owen Jedlicka, Alex Millard and Hannah and Emma Ryan, many nieces, nephews, special friend and neighbor Charity Gutsch, and countless other dear friends.
Cele was treasured by everyone she met and will be dearly missed. Her legacy will be eternal through everyone she touched. Through the years she saw and did it all; hat making, mastering the art of sending her son in the Vietnam war a cocktail, care packages to college students and dancing to the Polish polkas. She was the life of the party and the first one with a hug. Family and friends meant everything to her. She embraced any challenge head on; not limited to dancing on the bar, parachuting out of a plane, or taking a stuffed monkey as a party date. Cele was gifted in sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting. Her talent was shared with many she knew and many she didn't as she donated countless hats, mittens, quilts and blankets, outfitted many kids and dolls, mended many of her grandsons' holey knees and made incredible bridal veils for 2 of her granddaughters. Cele thoroughly enjoyed waking to the sound of the loons on Fish Trap Lake and then sinking a few worms to catch the big one! Summer months allowed her to showcase her green thumb. She was notorious for her beautiful flower gardens and plentiful harvests. Chef extraordinaire, you never left hungry and her grandchildren always knew where her famous cookies were hidden! Many hours passed in her kitchen, teaching her grandchildren the art of making the family recipe of potato sausage, pierogis, chrusciki, and chicken paprikash. As the wife, mom and grandmother of avid hunters she never shied from serving up delectable game dinners; a fete envied by many others. Cele loved her old fashions, wine and Korbel on the rocks. Her grandsons-in-law, Matthew and Pete, were well schooled on the proper ratio of water to brandy and she was not shy at letting them know if the water ratio was too high! Cecelia loved to travel; always remembering the breathtaking view of the Grand Tetons and the Alaskan glaciers. Of course, her Hawaiian adventure was not forgotten, moo moos, Mai Tais and fire dancers.
Cecelia and her loving husband built the home that she still resided in, adjacent to what had been her parents' farm. As a lifelong resident of Caledonia, Cecelia became a member of the Caledonia Historical Society and willingly shared many stories of the past; knowledge of the families and facts that helped to establish what Caledonia is today. In her honor the Caledonia Historical Society has produced a documentary in her honor. It was Cecelia's wish to share that with her family and friends. Donations to the society in her honor have been suggested. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses and the staff of Compassus for their compassionate care.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Cecelia will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish, 1533 Erie Street. Racine. Interment will follow in Bohemian National Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
