Catherine S. “Sue” Schimanski, 83, passed away at her home on Friday, June 5, 2026.
Sue was born on July 23, 1942, in Hastings to Roy and Ilah Jean Erway. She married John Schimanski on January 12, 1963. They shared 45 years of marriage before his passing on January 12, 2008.

Sue shared her love of athletics by coaching youth sports and volunteering as a Girl Scout leader. She was an exceptional cook and spent many years as an antique dealer. Sue was a master gardener and a member of the National Daylily Society. She also operated SueSki’s Worm Farm, combining her passion for gardening and nature.

She will be dearly missed by her children: John Jr. (Mary Jo) Schimanski, Roy (Lisa) Schimanski, Sharon (Bill) Vlieger, Becky Veto, Sandy (Keith) Burmeister, and Vickie Rodriguez; and by her grandchildren: Jenni (Tony), Nate (Megan), Greg (Tabetha), Rachel (Max), Logan, Lucy (Ethan), Abby, and Jerod (Kayla). Sue is also survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Cordero Rodriguez.

Visitation for Sue will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with a funeral service immediately following at 6:00 p.m. Private interment will take place at a later time.
