Catharine Sowinski (nee Posch) of Caledonia WI passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 24, 2026 at the age of 85. She was born in Riverside NJ and was one of 5 daughters born to the late Regina and Frank Posch.
Catharine spent much of her life working with the Naval Exchange and even spent time in Guam. She also worked at General Cinemas where she met her late husband Michael. They were married in 1993.
Catharine loved scrapbooking and making photo albums for her family and friends. She enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with friends playing cards and bingo. She loved to travel with friends and also by herself. Catharine spent much of her life after Michael’s death at Beech Pointe Senior Living and then moved to Woods of Caledonia.
Catharine was preceded in death by her beloved husband Michael and her sister Alice Adams (Posch). She leaves behind her stepdaughters LuAnne Farr (John) and Kathy Neimeyer (Brian), her sisters Doris Posch, Fran Johnsen, and Margaret Posch, her brothers in law Jim (Carolyn) and John (Donna) as well as her sister in law Paula Schafer (Mark), grandchildren Brandon, Gabriel, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Michael, Nolan, Benjamin, and Abigail, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Woods of Caledonia and St. Croix Hospice for taking care of Kate during her final years and months. We couldn’t have done it without any of you and we appreciate everything.
Catharine will be laid to rest at St Mary’s Cemetery, W134N8744–W134N8758 Main Street Menomonee Falls, WI 53051 where there will be a small service on September 14th, 2026 at 11:00am for all family and friends.
