RACINE – Carol Grant, 75, passed away at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.Carol was born in Racine on November 28, 1941 to Harvey R. and Frieda C. (nee, Boerger) Hanneman. She retired from Racine Unified School District, where she worked as a nurse at McKinley Junior High School. Carol was an avid Packer fan and longtime advocate of LaLeche League. She was an active member of Living Hope Lutheran Church; loved the outdoors, dogs, riding horses and holding court in political discussions. Most of all, Carol loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and close friends.Survivors include her children, Cathleen (William) Birner, Jon (Anita) Grant, Julie (Peter) Strande and Joel (Abby) Grant; grandchildren, Lauren "Lolo", Amy "Amykins" and Ryan "Ryry" Birner, Emily "Emmy" and Joel "JB" Grant, Caroline "Caroline a moon" and Sarah "Sarah Boo" Strande, and Lillian "Lil" and Liam "Bruiser" Grant; and her brothers and sister, Richard (Sandy) Hanneman of Houston, TX, Robert (Mary Pat) Hanneman of Ottawa, Canada and Janet Hanneman of Racine. Carol is also survived by a niece, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her nephew, Michael Hanneman.Funeral services for Carol will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. with Rev. Cash Myers officiating. A private family interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Racine Lutheran High School.The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our dear family friend, Sandra Heffel-Johnson and all the Doctors and nurses who cared for Carol, especially Lauren of Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee.
