Carol J. Conte Racine - Carol J. Conte, nee, Hommerding, 63, passed away at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa on Sunday, June 24, 2007. Carol was born in Racine on July 7, 1943. She was united in marriage to James P. Conte, Sr. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on June 29, 1968. She was employed as a legal secretary by S.C. Johnson & Sons for over 20 years. She was very artistic and hobbies included ceramics, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and collecting cottages. Survivors include her husband, James P. Conte, Sr.; children, James P. Conte, Jr., Brian (Jennifer) Conte and Lisa (Dr. Jesse) Shick; grandchildren, Austin, Matthew, Megan, Melanie, Morgan, Elizabeth and Alexandria; father, Eugene Hommerding; sister, Rita Simmons; and brother, Leon (Vicky) Hommerding. Carol is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie Conte on January 1, 1978. A Memorial Mass for Carol will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, June 29, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Richard J. Molter. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
