Racine- Carol Jean Borgardt (nee, Sawinski), 81, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 2, 2014.Carol was born in Racine on November 11, 1932 to John and Margaret (nee, Schoen) Sawinski. Carol married Godfrey Richard Borgardt, Jr. on April 25, 1953, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. She was a faithful lifelong member of St. John's. Carol is survived by her children, Craig (Jill) Borgardt, Randall (Louise) Borgardt, Joel (Rosie) Borgardt all of Racine and Scott (Pam) Borgardt of Cedarburg; nine grandchildren, Matt (Kristine) Borgardt, Randy (Sarah Guzman) Borgardt, Kalen (Joshua) Sternquist, Lauren (Mike) Askren, Kyle (fianc, Alexandra Forseth) Borgardt, Allyson Borgardt, Amanda Borgardt, Zachary Borgardt, Jacob Borgardt; ten great-grandchildren, John and Elena Borgardt, Aaron Borgardt, Maggie, Jackson and Lucas Sternquist, and Owen, Ryan, Molly and Will Askren. Carol is further survived by brothers; Herb (Bonnie) Sawinski of Port St. Lucie, FL, Clint (Pat) Sawinski of Minnetonka, MN, Warren (Margaret) Sawinski of Westby, WI; her sisters; Alice Johnson of Racine and Marlene (Elmer) Primuth of Liberty Township, OH; sisters-in-law; Esther Primuth, Betty Borgardt, Miriam (Tom) Dzieken, Sharon (Dean) Bartel, Veryl Borgardt, and Judy Borgardt. Carol is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Paula Haag, her special and caring friend and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law; Godfrey and Sophia Borgardt, Sr.; her grandson; John Borgardt; sister; Edith Doane; brothers-in law; Warren Johnson, Jim Doane, Bill Borgardt, Leroy Borgardt, Helmuth Primuth and sister-in-law; Ruth Borgardt. Funeral services for Carol will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 510 Kewaunee Street on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church.The family would like to extend a special thanks for the compassionate care from the staff at the Becker-Shoop Center and Allay Home and Hospice.
