Racine – Betty J. Kruse, 90, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. Betty was born in Racine on September 15, 1922 to Elmer J. and Anna (nee, Kornack) Bartels. On May 22, 1943 she married Arnold C. Kruse, celebrating 42 years of marriage. He preceded her in death in 1985. Betty was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church and graduated from Washington Park High School. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards and bingo, but most of all she loved spending her time and holidays with her family. Betty is survived by her three children, Judith Arnold, Vickie (John) Oberst and Timothy (Lynda) Kruse; five grandchildren, Jim White, Ruth Ann (David) Sauceda, Gerald (Jennifer) Arnold, Jennifer Aber and Daniel (Michelle) Aber; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her sister, Patricia (George) Sweeti. Betty is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first grandchild, Jeffrey White; and her sister, Carol Shepherd. A memorial service for Betty will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Feldscher officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Doctor's Brittig and Ansani and their nursing staff; and the staff's of Wheaton Franciscan Hospice and Parkview Gardens for all of their compassionate care.
