Bette Ann Spoden, 93, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
Bette was born in Milwaukee on January 9, 1930, to Robert and Nina Schmidling. She married Robert Spoden on August 3, 1972. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2017. Bette and Bob moved to Hayward in the 70's and resided there for over 30 years. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and taking Sunday rides through the woods with Bob, having rummage sales as well as going to them, and decorating for the holidays. Bette always liked to look nice no matter what she was doing.
She will be missed by her loving daughter, Kathie Barlow, grandsons Chris (Sarah) and Jamie (Traci) Barlow and granddaughter Laurie Wattelet, great grandchildren, Chelsea, Cameron, Kenzie, Tyler, Layton and Candace, great great grandchildren, Addison, Ellie, Alex and Ellis and sister Doris Klawitter. Bette is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Richard Nowak, daughter Debbe Nowak and brother Robert Schmidling.

Private family services for Bette will be held. Inurnment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy. 32.
