Bernice N. Weidner Racine - Bernice N. (nee, Burant) Weidner, 80, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 3, 2008. Bernice was born in Racine on January 20, 1928 to John and LaVerne (nee, Peterson) Burant. She married Arnold Weidner on October 15, 1949 at St. John's Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death. Bernice enjoyed playing cards and dice with family and friends. She loved vacationing in Branson, MO and the Florida Keys. She enjoyed fishing with her husband during Salmon-A-Rama. Bernice was involved with St. John's Lutheran Girls Pioneers.Bernice is survived by her children, Delores Weidner of Racine, Darlene Brawner of North Richland Hills, TX, Debbie (Jon) Young of Springfield, MO, Diane (Bob) Gatzke of Racine, Denise (Roger) Koenen of Forsyth, MO and Craig (Jeanie) Weidner of Ingleside, IL; 9 grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Brawner, Joshua Brawner, Jacob (Amanda) Brawner, Katie Rose Brawner, Ashley Young, Courtney Young, Jen (Kevin) Erickson, Bryan Gatzke and Craig John 'CJ' Weidner; and nine great grandchildren, Ashley, Harley, Nathan, Dakota, Maylea, Madison, Corbin and Katherine Brawner, and Ryan Erickson. Bernice is also survived by a sister, Elaine Orban; brothers, Jack (Cathy) Burant, Anthony (Edith) Burant; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Erickson and Shirley Weidner; and brother-in-law, Fred (Clara) Schaefer. Bernice is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, along with many friends including her close friend and Maid of Honor, Shirley Rasmussen. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Burant; and brother-in-law, George Orban.Funeral services for Bernice will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1501 Erie Street, on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Daniel B. Quinn officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials will be used for various charities selected by the family.
