Bernice Toepper Schoenleben Munch Racine - Bernice T. Schoenleben Munch, 86, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, August 4, 2007. Bernice was born in Lyons, IL on May 13, 1921. She attended Zion Lutheran School, graduating in 1935. Bernice graduated from Morton High School in 1939. She married Kenneth Schoenleben in June 1942 and they had two sons, Thomas and Scott. Bernice lived most of her adult life in Racine where she was active in community organizations and Atonement Lutheran Church. She retired from Printing Development, Inc. On October 13, 1990 Bernice married Hans E. Munch. They spent several years traveling and were actively involved at the Atrium where they resided. Bernice and Hans were members of Emmaus Ev. Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband, Hans Munch; grandsons, Matthew and Thomas Schoenleben; sister, Evelyn Gatz; brother-in-law, Ralph Schoenleben; daughters-in-law, Lin and Kathy Schoenleben; nephews, Dale (Yvonne) Gatz and Don (Joann) Gatz; great nephews and great nieces; step-children, Karen Kennedy and David Munch; step-grandchildren and many friends. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Schoenleben; sons, Thomas and Scott Schoenleben; parents Herman and Matilda Toepper; and brother-in-law, Vernon Gatz. Memorial services for Bernice will be held at the Atrium, 3900 N. Main Street, on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Mary Janz, Rev. Walter Herman and Rev. Dale Gatz officiating. Interment will take place in Mound Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Emmaus Ev. Lutheran Church.
