RACINE – Bernice D. Benson, 89, passed away at Ascension All Saints Hospital on Thursday, December 21, 2017. Bernice was born in Milwaukee on March 13, 1928 to Paul and Frieda (nee, Behling) Wegner. On January 31, 1953 she married Victor E. Benson, Jr. He preceded her in death April 25, 2009. They lived in Conover, WI until the passing of Victor and Bernice moving to Caledonia to live with her son Randy. Bernice was devoted to her family; a homemaker who loved to sew, cook, and bake. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to dance, and enjoyed playing cards and board games. Survivors include her children, Carol (Ed) Randall of Lodi, WI, Ron Benson of Pewaukee, WI, and Randy (Miles) Benson of Caledonia, WI; grandchildren, Melissa (Jim) O'Neil and Nicole (Sean) Smith; and her brother, Gilbert Wegner. Bernice is also survived by other relatives and friends. In keeping with Bernice's wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date in Conover, WI. Interment will take place in Hildegard Cemetery. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff's of Ridgewood Care Center, Ascension All Saints, and Grace Hospice for all their compassionate care.
