View Video Tribute Kenosha - Bernadine L. 'Bunny' Ybema joined her husband in heaven on Thursday, March 29, 2012. She was born December 11, 1933 in Colfax, WI to Bernard and Mary (Ruthbauer) Stifter. She spent her childhood in Cadott and the Eau Claire area. On January 24, 1957, she was united in marriage to Lawrence 'Bud' Ybema. Following marriage, they resided in Racine until 1965 before moving to Bristol, where they lived for the rest of their united life. Bud preceded her in death on December 3, 2004.'Bunny' was known most for her caring and loving nature. She was always delightfully devoted to her family and friends. Her heart never ceased in giving. She found joy in raising her furry friends of all kinds and also in the feathered critters of nature. When you saw 'Bunny', you would have seen that she always had a free spirit, fun loving life like a rabbit. You would have always seen her hopping through her garden of love, not only her family but in her vibrant plants sprouting life around her. Survivors include her children, Pamela M. (Hillary) Deskins of Racine, Michael L. (Kimberly) Ybema of Kenosha, Lisa K. Reeves of Wausau, and Robert J. (Heather) Ybema of Racine; grandchildren Kye Ybema, Magdalyn, Hannah and Dakota Reeves; great grandson, Landon Ybema and her sisters Irene Ryan and Dorothy Dressel. 'Bunny' was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Marie Raether.A memorial service will be held Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Funeral Home in Racine, WI at 4:00 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials to Alzheimer's Association, Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter, 620 S. 76th Street, Suite 160 Milwaukee, WI 53214 or Hospice, 951 Main St., Ste. 120 Union Grove, WI 53182 are suggested.The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the staff at the Harbor House and Hospice for their loving care and compassion given to Bunny.
