Obituary

MULBERRY - Barbara A. Harmon died Friday, June 14, 2013 at home in her favorite chair. Cause of death was heart failure.Barbara was born in Racine, WI and moved to Mulberry, Fl. 24 years ago.She graduated from Washington Park High School and went to Stephens College and graduated from Northwestern University where she studied Social Work and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.She was active in volunteer work throughout her life, most notably for the Girl Scouts, The Junior League, the DAR and various other organizations.Barbara was an avid golfer, starting at a young age and took her last swing when she was 86 years old.She traveled extensively around the world from China to Australia, New Zealand, Turkey and Europe.She always made time for a visit back to Racine to see family and friends and to join in with the Taco Belles on Tuesdays.She was a voracious reader and supported her local library in Mulberry, where the librarians knew her by name.Barbara was a supporter of the arts and loved her opera as well as many genres of music.Survivors include her children Ted (Inga Fox), Hetty (Paul Taylor), Kimman (Connie Smith), Tom (Meg) and niece Susan Eisenbart, 5 grandchildren, 1 grand niece, 2 grandnephews, 4 step-grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, son Tim and nephew-in-law Rick Eisenbart.A graveside mass will be held at Holy Cross cemetery in Racine, WI on August 6, 2013 at 9:30 am.There will be a celebration of her life at Meadowbrook Country Club at 5:30pm that evening.
